Look! Size Does Matter!

How many times have we heard “Size Doesn't Matter?” Well I guess that really depends on what we are talking about right?

When it comes to cupcakes, size matters. Give me the biggest cupcake you have!

When it comes to a cup of coffee, size matters. Give me a LARGE cup please!

And even when it comes to strawberries, we always go for the big ones right? 

Right.

How about when it comes to accessorizing your home? 

“Is BIGGER really better?”

Take a look at this dining room. To me, it looks like someone played 52 card pick-up with decor. Everything is jumbled together!

Look at the size of those candle holders! 

Is that really necessary? 

If you looked at the candles separably, they are actually pretty cool … if your dining room table was 20 feet long by 6 feet wide.  They are just too overbearing for this little room.

The unfortunate thing is you can't appreciate the other decor in the room because the candles are so obnoxiously big. The chairs are gorgeous but your eye goes right to the candles. The lamps are really, really nice but are hidden behind those jumbo candles. And forget about talking to the person who is seated directly across from you - you'll never see them.

I thought I'd never say this but thank goodness there's no color in this room. It's basically a really bland color palette which happens to work in its favor. Can you picture what this dining room would look like if it were red? It's what nightmares are made of.

Lesson learned my friends. Don't let anyone tell you that size does't matter because it does. It's certainly a personal preference but keep these little factoids in mind when you're decorating your home.
