Bet you were thinking I was going to say something about a North facing window right? Wrong. Here's the #1 reason you should not choose gray - under ANY circumstance.
DEPRESSION
Even thought gray or greige is all the rage now, this is the one and probably only time that I would not recommend having gray in your home of any kind - even the warm grays.
We visual and process color on a sub conscience level. By incorporating gray into a home where people may have depression issues could be a HUGE mistake. And don't fool yourself by saying it's a warm gray - you're still processing it as gray and it will have an effect on the way you feel.
I say forgo the gray and choose a hue that reads happy. It doesn't have to be something as obvious as orange or yellow. It could be a green that reminds you of lying in grass when you were a kid. It could be a blue that reminds you of your new born baby boy cousin that smells so good. It could even be a red that reminds you of the cherries on Grandma's best ever cherry pie.
So my friends, I'm not only a Color Expert but have to take on the roll of a "deep thinker" at times. There is so, so, so much to consider when choosing color for a home and THIS my friends, they do not teach is school - or maybe I was absent that day.
Anyway, I will turn down a client if I see red flags or issues that are beyond what any color may be able to fix and that's ok. I will always suggest colors that may help but it's best to heal first than to choose a color that you may not be ready for.
