One Size Fits All Color?

For the most part, when the label says “one size fits all” it's pretty much a done deal. For ponchos, hats, blankets, scarves etc. it's a given that these items will fit most people since they don't really need to be size specific.

But when it comes to color, some colors really do fit all.  These are a few beiges from Sherwin Williams that are a perfect fit for most homes.

I've used these warm beiges in many kitchens, living rooms and foyers. They start on page 18 and go on through page 23 on the Sherwin Williams paint fan deck. The lighter colors I use for foyers, halls, ceiling and trim, the medium tones for larger rooms such as living rooms and kitchens the the darker beiges for accent walls and to highlight architectural features.

Of course a Home Stager would just love these beige's because they are all about neutralizing the home for resale and showing a color that potential home buyers will like as well.

Sometimes, actually often, when I have a color consultation I'll speak with the client for a short while until I find out the “feel” they want for their home. I chuckle when I see these very popular colors already “chip ready” on the kitchen table.

These colors are a great stand by. You'll see them often and probably a bit too much in model homes and in homes that are not really sure of color and just want to be safe. But on the other hand, these really are awesome colors and do look great in the homes here in Charlotte but will they be a perfect fit for you?

When are these colors the best fit for a client?
When you …
… are going to sell your home in a year or two.
… are going to remodel your home.
… want a user friendly color.
… don't know what furniture you want.
… want a color to match most decors.
… want a soft, classy monochromatic look to your home.
… want your home really warm and cozy.
… don't want any substantial or specific color.
… and your husband can't agree on a trendy color palette.
… have an open floor plan.
… want to brighten up a room.
… need color to lift your spirit.

As with any color, watch the undertones. Nothing will look worse than a home that isn't properly fit with color. Contact me if you would like to try some on because when it comes to color, one size does not fit all.
