Touch Of Gray …

The clothes? Coming this fall at Neiman Marcus.
The gray? Can be in your home now.

As a Color Specialist in Charlotte, I often look at runways for color inspirations. I just LOVE these grays and think of all the other colors that will look great with them! Let me know if I can choose the right gray for you.

  1. Gray-as a 'color,' instead of what is basically a Non-color (technically black + white), is an interesting idea. Since most paints have black in them--and of course Gray will have a lot of black--I'd not want to use it in interiors, in the typical paint color. While gray, or black might look cool, or trendy, they do not add positive energy to a living space and often appear very muddy and flat. (I think of it as "visual dead space" because black does not reflect colors.)

However, when you select a gray, or even a 'near black' that is a "Full Spectrum" paint mixture, then it will have the appearance of gray, or black, but actually be made up of multiple tints with NO black at all.

In our case a minimum of 7 different colors that result in a luminous, subtly color-rich experience even in the gray tones.

So, just to encourage you when you get on the gray-trend bandwagon to include full spectrum colors as your actual choice for the physical paint that you use. You will have a space that has a positive energy and is alive, not flat, while visually reading as "gray," whether it's light, dark, warm or cool.

  2. I'm loving the gray-browns lately, BM's Revere Pewter and Shale . . .
