What NOT to do in a foyer

I kid you not when I tell you that I saw these colors in a MODEL home today! It was so frightful I just HAD to take a picture. The designer who chose these colors and design should be fired - really.

Can you imagine trying to find fabric for your home to match that teal? Other than off white, what fabric you would choose to settle these colors down? These?

“You may love these colors today, but will
you love them tomorrow, next week or even next year?”

There's nothing wrong with choosing beautiful color for your home - just be really careful HOW you place your color.

If you like bright colors, think about using them on one wall as an accent color. This way, you're not committed to the color for years to come - just in case you don't like it.

Here's a link to a previous post I wrote on foyers. You can always contact me if you need additional help or advice.

ps - Be careful with teal!

  2. Oh my! I think that might be the most ridiculous space I've seen in quite some time. That is, for a model home. Would look great in a cartoon or Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Thanks for sharing such silliness.

  3. And yet, someone's probably very proud of their creation, but this just proves that style and taste are very subjective.. It's just not to everyone's taste!

  4. It's funny how we shun the norm but you're right Beryn, they may be homebuyers the love this look.

  5. It would also be a great example of "How Many Ways to Chop Up a Space and Make It Seem Smaller". Funny!

  6. Hahaha.....I just saw his post and the reason I stopped and read it is because many many many years ago I painted my kids bedroom this teal. OMG.....it was horrific. A little teal goes a long way...and really is much better in a textile. Don't you wonder sometimes who designs those model homes?
