Patina Blue • Is It For You?

Stature of Liberty of course
was originally copper but over time, turned into Patina.

This interesting color is not what it seems to be. It only exists because of oxidation otherwise there would be no such hue. Pretty interesting if you ask me.

Some silver also gets a patina or tarnish over time. Simplified Bee shows you how you can easily remove tarnish from silver but you wouldn't want to remove the patina from any copper or brass. It actually adds value to have it on.

How could we use this weathered color in our homes
and what other hues would be paired with it?

Keeping with the natural theme of Patina,
I would go with an earthy color
palette such as the one I designed here.

You can modernize with a cool gray as seen
in this photo showing “Bonsai” which is a Valspar color.

Either way, enjoy my “Hue 2 Have” for this week - Patina Blue.

  1. I like that Patina Blue. Not really blue, not really gray. I like colors that are rather unidentifiable.

  2. I love the color of that chest. So striking! My daughter's new bedroom is a grey and taupe scheme, but needs a little something for interest. I think I will paint her dressing table a color similar to this.
