Well first of all, let's not call it orange, let's call it 'Bronze Tone' and 'Soft Pumpkin'. There, now that sounds better already.
When you think of orange for a color possibility for your bedroom what comes to mind? Pumpkins, fruit, toys, candy, sweet potatoes and maybe a sunset. I wonder how often you hear people say “I wish my bedroom was orange”. Probably not too often for fears of choosing the wrong orange like mentioned in Rachel Perls column in Stir Magazine.
With the right direction, or choosing a Color Specialist, your bedroom can look like this:
… with a softer tint for the sitting area.
Bringing in black accents from Pottery Barn will make this color pop.
So, if you are contemplating choosing this energetic hue for your master suite, consider these great color options:
- Subtle Orange • Pratt & Lambert Paints
- La Fonda Sombrero • Valspar
- Burnt Brick • Eddie Bauer Collection, Valspar
- Bonfire • Behr
If your still reluctant to use orange in your room, just paint one wall or accent a feature in your room instead. That would be a great start!
Orange you glad you asked? :-)
Ooh, I love the softer tinted orange in the sitting room picture - I would never think to have orange walls, but it looks fab there!
ReplyDeleteI actually used Benjamin Moore Rust for my bedroom. But the color isn't rust at all but a deep pumpkin. I love it. It is warm and cozy without being dark. My furniture is creamy white and I do have accents of black and taupe. People are so afraid to go bold. Great post!! Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteLove the pumpkin, but I don't think I could take it in my bedroom! Would love it in a powder room, though! Great thoughts!
ReplyDeleteI really love the middle photo, especially with the dark furniture. Very dramatic!
ReplyDeletethanks for the mention in your post!
ReplyDeleteI have tones of gold and bronze in my condo. They really are warm tones for the mountains! I love them! Not sure how orange I could go....but it looks interesting! ♥
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of "bronze tone". It's not a color I think of yet I really like the way this room looks.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the bedding!!! Together with black furniture, the orange comes off very sophisticated!
ReplyDeleteIn my last house I used a soft pumpkin color which was almost a terra cotta in my kitchen and I loved it. I always had so many compliments on the color.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment...it was very funny!
Thank you for stopping by Southern Comfort in a Northern Life and leaving me sweet comments about my new home. We will be moving in a couple of weeks and I will be in full decorating mode. I guess we are not to far from you being in Florence. I would have loved to move to NC but no railroad jobs there:)
ReplyDeleteI would totally put orange, er...bronze tone in my bedroom; but as an accent only. After all, that is my favorite color.
ReplyDeleteYes, orange can be a scary color for clients so I often use words like terra cotta or bronze to help them keep an open mind. The bedroom pic looks very cozy with the pumpkin color.
