Progression. Moving forward with color

Seeing the same hues over and over again?

Sure they're great colors but too much of a good thing is not good - expect for ice cream of course! For me, the design world is flooded with blue and gray. Are they pretty colors? Of course! As a Color Expert is it frustrating to see the same colors being used over and over again. Yes. :-(

So what does this mean for the world of color? Does it mean that I will refuse to use blue and gray for my clients? No, of course not. It's just frustrating to me to see this two colors sticking around for oh so long with out pairing up with someone new - that someone meaning another color of course.

Here I have a graphic that starts out as gray, turns to blue then transforms into green. This is good! They are actual all pretty colors by the way! Now, what I'd like to see is that green getting paired up with another color - ANY COLOR - besides blue or gray.

BUT IT'S SO DARN PRETTY! … and likable too, I know, I know! But how about we start thinking about some other colors?

HOMEWORK: Go to your nearest paint store and just look all the thousands of colors that are displayed. Take home a few that you like, a few that you think you like and a just a few that you wouldn't even consider for your home.

Just look at some lighter shades of purple or lavender. They are really good choices for the bedroom and just as relaxing as any blue or coastal color that you like. You can also add it your existing blue room - see how nice it looks?

My point is - just change it up. Start looking at the entire color wheel and not choice the blues and grays. Trust me, it's really pretty!
