How To Make Pinky-Beige Work in Your Home

We've all heard the horror stories about pinky-beige right? It's really a tough hue to work with in the home because it seems most of our decor and undertones are opposite of what works well with pinky-beige and that's why it doesn't work.

This photograph is actually a shot from my dining room. Looks pretty nice doesn't it? Notice the color? It's pinky-beige.

Here are a few tips on how to make pinky-beige work in your home:

  • Make sure the lighting fixtures don't clash. This fixture is brushed nickel with white alabaster glass globes which work.
  • I hand painted a mural on the wall to incorporate more pinky-beige and to add a few more colors that are in the rest of my home. Adding artwork with similar hues is a great way to tie in and complete your color scheme.
  • Pinky-beige wall color will NOT work in you have a yellow undertone in your furniture such as maple or pine. I happen to have cherry (not shown) so the red undertone in the wood works perfectly.
  • Adding red decor and accents in the room and surrounding areas also helps. I have six burgundy columns on this floor on my home so the “red” brings the eye from the dining room right into the rest of my home.
  • Be super careful with green! If you have green in your home, pairing it up with pinky-begie will look a little “Christmasy”. I do have green but it's similar to a patina green which looks pretty cool.
Does this help you like pinky-beige a little bit better? There are more tips and tricks to use when working with this hue but for the most part, start with these tips and you should be ok.

If I have to tell you just one tip about pinky-beige, that would be NOT to have any yellow undertones in your home or surrounding areas. That's extremely hard to do and luckily, my kitchen countertops are more pinky than yellow, my cabinets are cherry and there is a lot of rich burgundy in my home to pull this off.
