Lemon Sorbet by Benjamin Moore - for fashion or home?

So here we have yet another color of the year by Benjamin Moore. Do we like it? Where can we use it?  Will it make a great living room color? Kitchen color? Will Lemon Sorbet be just another fashion choice or is this a color that we can use in our home as wall color? As accents?

Lemon Sorbet by Benjamin Moore

This is a tough call because the answer really depends on where you live and where you plan on putting this color. Based on the color palettes that my clients lean towards here in South Charlotte, I can tell you that this is not a hue that will be used for the main part of the home such as living room, kitchen or family room. With the open style floor plans, ample windows and strong Southern light, this hue may be just a little too perky.

Again, this really depends on the lighting in your home. The more windows and natural light you have, the brighter Lemon Sorbet will be. If you have a smaller ranch style home that gets very little natural light, this may work out perfectly for you.

So where do I think Lemon Sorbet will fit in? Like I said earlier, it all depends on your style home and your lighting. Right off the bat I can tell you that Lemon Sorbet would make a great nursery color because of it's brightness and youthful appeal. You can already see how this Pottery Barn room for kids looks in a similar color.

Here's something to keep in mind. I know you're going to do an Internet search and you will see tons of really pretty pictures with Lemon Sorbet BUT keep in mind that it is just that - a monitor representation of Lemon Sorbet. It really doesn't reflect the actual color at all.

Like any color you're considering for your home, get a sample of it and a Small Wall® paint sample boards and try it out in your home. That is the only way to know if it will work for you. It is a great color but make sure it's great for you! 1. I just painted one office wall in this color. It looks *nothing* like the photo with the beadboard. It is a much more vivid yellow, and it is *far* too perky for me. Your advice, which I read too late, is right on the mark. Definitely get the sample first! I'm going to go back and beg them to tone it down for me.

    1. Renee, instead of toning down a the color, can you just choose the right color? Take some samples home and see which ones look best in your lighting. When you have it narrowed down to two, paint them out and see how it looks.
