Will Coastal Colors Go With My Decor?

This week I've gotten three requests for coastal colors for the home. Interestingly enough, they all are ranch homes in Florida which are perfect for these hues.

One question asked was, “will coastal color match my art, flooring and furniture?”

This is probably one of the main reasons that so many people still love the coastal color scheme. We know of course that they are soothing and just gorgeous but also, they are very accommodating.

Are they considered neutral? Another good question.

Neutral as we know are colors that are fairly plain and don't really have a definite hue or undertone - kinda blah basically. You know the colors I'm talking about, the Contractor's Beige, White, Cream - boring, boring and boring.

On the other hand, these coastal colors have a distinct blue, green or gray yet they seem to match most decors. Right?

Coastal colors will work if you have dark flooring, the dreaded orange flooring, tile, wood, cork - whatever flooring. It's just a matter of pairing it up with the right hue here.

Here again it's all about the undertones. If you have an open floor plan, make sure all your undertones are either warm or cool. Use your flooring as a guide because nothing looks worse than mixing warm colors such as your tile for your tile cool paint colors - it just do not transition well.

So to answer the question, yes - coastal colors will match most decors which make it the perfect color scheme for the home.
