Neutral colors are a must to balance all the other colors in your home.
I am the last person who would be rooting to have neutral colors in the home but remember, design is all about balance. You have to have neutral colors to balance all the other colors in your home. If you have color in every single room of the home your home will begin to take on the “quilt” look where you have patches of color - everywhere. That's not good.
See this picture? The dog is a neutral and it balances all the shades of green. Neutrals give the eye a place to “rest” so you can enjoy the rest of the hues in your home. There's even a little pop of pink for an accent color.
This photo is an excellent example of good color design. You have your wall color which is some shade of green, light or dark, whichever you prefer. You have your accent color which either can be the darker green or the pink and you have neutral which is either a beige, light gray or white. That's for your foyer, halls, laundry room, closets or even your kitchen where you have very little wall space.
That's all you need! I'm available for Virtual Color Consultations if you would like help with color for your home.
