Should I Paint The Outside of My House Blue?

I came across this ad for Sherwin Williams exterior color and it caught my eye. Isn't that a pretty color? I think it would be super cute for a smaller home like a ranch, cottage or bungalow but if you have a two story McMansion, it may be a bit too much blue hue for you.

This is a great color but I think I'd like it more if it were about 30% lighter. Blue homes are very pretty and go along with the coastal feel that everyone loves so much but the blue that you choose  needs to factor in with the style of your home and where you live. This blue is reminds me of the home colors you'd see in Williamsburg, VA or a Southern home in Charleston, SC. 

Belong to a Home Owners Association? They may not approve such a “strong” color that is why I suggested going much lighter. However, see the gray in the Sherwin Williams ad here? Your home color can be that but choose the blue for your shutters or front door. That would be a perfect compromise.

Great color choices here but so much to consider before you decide on an exterior color for your home.
