How To Add Red To Your Home Without a Big Commitment

Red can be a scary color to work with. Should you use it as a main wall color? Just as an accent color? Where should you put red?

These are all legitimate questions to ask and questions that you should know the answer to before you start decorating your home. I've been a Color Specialist in Charlotte since 2007 now and only chose red for a client just a handful of times and it was in a child's room so not many homes can really hold this color confidently.

Do you want red for your home?

Are you afraid it will look too

“Austin Powers”?

Here are a few ways to add red to your home and stay fairly safe with your chocies.

Here I designed a mood board with products from Bassett. You see red is used in accessories which is really the safest way to use color if you're not sure or confident in your color choices. Personally, I'm much rather see red in decor than a full wall color. However, there's always those few rooms that will look stunning with that very red accent wall and it really depends on the style of your home. Meanwhile, hook yourself up with area rugs, art, ottomans, pillows and bedding.

This is really the safest way to incorporate any color into your home if you're really not sure of it or if you don't want to commit to color and that's fine! Just remember, you don't have to go with a white or beige wall just because you have a strong hue in your home.

If you want me to help you choose a wall color to go with this hot accent color, contact me at the emails on the left hand side of this blog. Enjoy your color!
