Finding Color at Cedarhill Farm, Waxhaw, NC

It was a sunny Carolina blue morning at Cedarhill Farm in Waxhaw. I had my camera in hand, my daughter by my side and we were ready to watch the show. She was there to capture the beauty of the horses and I was there to capture some color. Here's what I found:
Hannah Bee with her horse Twisty.

Try Artichoke •  Classical White •  Smokey Topaz
All can be found at Sherwin Williams.

Love this green and brown combo with a splash of cream. Miss Hannah Bee, daughter of Lori Bee, is looking sporty in this post but she's also wearing colors that you can easily incorporate into your home. Green and brown are classic, universal colors that will look beautiful in any home and with many décors.

Try Ambitious Amber • Still Water

Here I picked up this beautiful creamy butter color in the fence combined with the smokey blue in her riding jacket (I apologize for not having her name but will update when I get it). Love these two colors together. That rich, chocolate brown would be the prefect furniture/flooring stain (Sienna) to go with these two hues.

Color from a different view …

Try Jubilee • Cachet Cream • Tatami Tan

Looking good from the back, in this case, is spot on beautiful. Approaching and viewing life from different angles sometimes gives us a whole new perspective on common inspirations. Here's how you can take this color scheme from horse show to cozy bedroom and don't forget to add the blue for a little splash of color.

It's nice when you see red, white and blue pop up in unexpected places.

It's not the typical red or brown stable. This green teal was a great contrast next to the white horse but instead, I picked up on another creamy color found in the sand.

Try Grandview • Lily • Dapper Tan

How do you like that? I found a splash of vibrant color in an otherwise neutral stable. I wonder if they know they're sporting the very fashionable “Raspberry” color in the Donna Karan's new arrivals? Be careful with this bright one, perhaps just start off using it in an accent shown in this design by Kishani Perera.

Award winning colors? They can be for someone.

Picture this Schumacher fabric in drapery along with those colors.
Great for the dining room or Master bedroom.
Saddle up for a classy color scheme. I think this one is my favorite. Use the lightest color as your main wall color, the brown in your tray ceiling and that rich red as an accent color in accessories or drapery.

I just love this photograph!
You can do so much with these green grays.
Can you say chic Manhattan Penthouse? Yea or neigh?

  3. This is such a fabulous post with two of my favourite things - horses and colour :-) I love all your pictures, and how you sometimes pulled out the not-so-obvious colour palette from each one. And you did a great job matching the colour palettes with beautiful rooms :-)
