Does anyone have this type of stairway in their home? I've seen it once in a clients home and another time in a model home recently but all in all, not too often. Not sure I like it. Do you think this is a good look?
This is why I don't care for it. The rise in these particular stairs are unusually short. I also found the transition from carpet to hardwood very distracting. I felt that I had to think about where to place my feet and felt I was going to trip because of over thinking it.
Stairs with a runner is a great option but then you have to think about a carpet color. This blue/lavender hue is a bit awkward for me, especially with the white side banding.
This I really like! You can see the wood plus you have a bit of carpet to keep the noise level down when climbing. But again, choose a color that won't show dirt too soon. This beige, probably not a good idea but it does look pretty and will match any decor.
Is that last one a staircase or piece of abstract art? And if the former, how'd it pass the building codes?
ReplyDeleteConfusion is right! I've never seen a stairway like this. Before I started reading, I just assumed it was a work in progress, either removing or adding the carpet.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying looking around your blog--I saw a link on another blog and couldn't resist. I'm in Waxhaw also.
PS. That last staircase--also confusing. : )
I have never seen such a combination, very strange! I agree that the wood combined with carpet is the best way to do it!
